Special Events at the Animal Park and Around the Triangle and Triad

The Animal Park hosts several annual and special events throughout the year at the park. In addition, Animal Park staff participates in many offsite events throughout the region. Each of these events offers unique features and opportunities for visitors to learn and explore.

Events are quite different from our public tours and typically offer visitors the freedom to move about the park at their own pace. With docents stationed throughout the park to share information and answer questions, this can be a wonderful way to learn more about a favorite species, see training demonstrations and have an opportunity to ask a keeper or handler your questions.

The Animal Park also participates in many other events and activities around the Triangle and Triad metropolitan areas. Watch for us at the Museum of Natural Sciences during many of their celebrations, including Darwin Day!

Celebrate The Wild

Onsite Events

Events planned throughout the year provide fun, exciting educational opportunities and one-of-a-kind experiences for all ages!

Girl Scout Day

Girl Scouts spend an exciting day meeting the animals from as close as 5 feet away, participating in an information scavenger hunt for facts (some serious and some silly) about the Animal Park and our animal residents, create toys for critters and crafts, play games, and make s'mores and more at this wildly popular event.

Wild Under The Stars

With some of the darkest skies in the greater Triangle & Triad area, the Animal Park at the Conservators Center offers superb viewing conditions for astronomical events and phenomena. You'll be able to view Venus, Mars, Jupiter, and Saturn, as well as the Moon, with your binoculars or telescope..

Lions, Tigers, & Beer

A wildly popular event in 2017 & 2018.  Before guests toured our zoological park, they sampled food and beer pairings inspired by our animals—animals like tigers, lions, and lynxes. Even better, we partnered with local restaurants and breweries like Haw River Ales, Saint Jacques, and more to bring you the best cuisine North Carolina has to offer.

Tree Toss

Tree Toss is the Animal Park's signature event. Held in January each year, we use unsold evergreen trees donated from Cranberry Tree Farm to provide one of a kind enrichment to our residents! You'll see our lions, tigers, leopards, and wolves, as well as many other residents, play with their treats, trees, and toys made by visitors at our Workshop. Space is limited, so be sure to reserve your tickets early!

Pumpkin Prowl

Grab a coat and a friend, and join us for our annual Pumpkin Prowl, the most unique and thrilling way to celebrate autumn in North Carolina! Join us in selecting, decorating, and carving the pumpkins; after our keepers decorate our animals’ enclosures, watch as they introduce our animals to an autumn wonderland. Enjoy the fun at your own pace because Pumpkin Prowl is a self-guided walk-about event, meaning you can spend as much time as you want admiring the residents you find most enjoyable.

Paws for a Cause

Join us for a very special holiday celebration where you’ll have an opportunity to give back to the local community! Contributing to our mission of education and wildlife advocacy while also providing holiday joy to the families in our surrounding area! Could there a better way to spend the Saturday after Christmas?

Offsite Events

We participate in a number of events throughout the Triangle and Triad areas to further our outreach and bring wildlife education to a broader audience.
