Celebrate autumn in the wildest way imaginable: our annual Pumpkin Prowl event!
From pumpkin spiced lattes, to pumpkin pies – it’s obvious that pumpkins are definitely a hot commodity during autumn. Even our animal residents seemingly can’t wait to get their paws on them. Come celebrate the autumn season with us during our traditional annual event, Pumpkin Prowl!
Grab a coat and a friend, and join us on Saturday, November 14th (rain date of Saturday, November 21) for Pumpkin Prowl, a unique way to celebrate autumn in North Carolina.
From 11AM – 3PM, enjoy food and drinks from local vendors like Dingo Dog Brewery, Gettin’ Sauced in the City, Bright Penny Brewing, or Ramsey’s Sweets. Play autumn-inspired field games or explore the nature trails outside of the Park as a family. Inside the Park, enjoy watching the animals exploring their stuffed, scented, or painted pumpkins at your own pace – below is the schedule for when animals will receive enrichment:
- 11am – Wolves, Wic Tiger, Ra Lion, Katrina & Savik Lions, Gryffindor & Pacino Lions
- 12pm – Leopards, Hansen’s Pride, Kira Lion, Avalon Tiger, New Guinea Singing Dogs & Dingoes
- 1pm – Servals, Zehra and Mazie Caracal kittens, Naja Caracal, Jungle Cats
- 2pm – Eurasian Lynx, Caracal, Lemurs, Bobcat & Geoffroy’s Cat row, Binturong corner!
During Pumpkin Prowl, while you watch the animals explore their enrichment at your own pace, you can also learn interesting facts about our animal residents from our trained volunteers at the Animal Park at the Conservators Center. We will have maps available for you at check in – that way you can easily find the animals you’d like to see!
*Due to COVID-19 protocols and procedures, all enrichment made on the day of the event will not be placed into habitats until the week following. We highly suggest following us on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter to have a chance to spot your enrichment highlighted on our social media pages*
